Halloween Pet Safety in Akron
Halloween can be a lot of fun for us, but be sure to watch your pet for cues to see how they are taking it. For them Halloween can be more scary than fun. While you might enjoy the stream of costume-clad trick-or-treaters at the door, your pet just notices that the doorbell has rung dozens of times, only to reveal odd-looking strangers each time. This can result in unexpected aggression or an attempted escape through the open door. The best way to avoid this stress is to put your pet in a secure crate or a room as far away as possible from the front door.
Also, remember to hide the candy bowl and the loot bag that the kids bring home because many of the treats can make your pet very sick, or even be deadly. The worst people treats are chocolates and anything containing xylitol (an artificial sweetener). In the event of accidental ingestion, give us a call or get your pet to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital very quickly.
